HALO Training DVD

The HALO Training Kit illustrates how to conduct the HALO lessons with children. In addition, supplemental materials include supporting research on child attitudes, risk and protective factors, drug and alcohol prevention with preschoolers, etc. The DVD includes both English and Spanish options on the same disk.

This is the wire-bound HALO Program Guide that is included in the HALO Curriculum Kit — a comprehensive teacher’s manual that includes the 12 units of HALO, parent letters for each unit, teacher resources and evaluation, parent survey, scoring of the Bonita Bunny Assessment and Fidelity Checklist. HALO sites often order extra copies for additional classrooms. Spanish version available.

Bonita Bunny’s Guide to HALO

This interactive storybook, Bonita Bunny’s Guide to HALO, serves as the assessment tool for HALO. It is useful for those sites who wish to validate the effectiveness of the HALO program. Authors are early childhood specialist Dr. Barbara Jackson, Ph.D. of the Monroe Meyer Institute of the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and Angela Smith of Heartland Family Service. Delightfully illustrated, it is specific to the interactive nature of the HALO curriculum. Pretests should be given prior to the beginning of Unit 1. Post-tests should be given within two weeks of the completion of Unit 12. The scoring forms are included in the Program Guide. Spanish version available.

The music on the HALO Music CD helps children learn various healthy messages through the act of singing. The CD includes 16 songs written especially for HALO and sung by children.

Anatomy Apron

The HALO anatomy apron is a full-color print apron, designed for pre-school sized children, which illustrates the placement of their internal organs. During HALO activities, children wear the anatomy apron to actively engage in learning the functions of their body’s organs, developing a richer conception of what it means to be healthy.
