Healthy Alternatives for Little Ones

Empowering young children to make healthy choices.

Get Physically Fit This Summer

Posted May 30, 2013, in Announcements.

Finally the sun is shining and the temperature is warm. Everyone is headed to the great outdoors to enjoy nature and exercise. Studies show that young children need 60 to 90 minutes of accumulated physical activity each day and yet they average only 30 minutes!

To help improve their physical activity, set up summer fitness goals for yourself and the children in your life. Before starting any activity, establish safety and fitness goals. Be prepared – drink plenty of water, stretch and have a fitness plan with goals. To help with planning check out The President’s Challenge at, which includes Physical Fitness Test for both kids and adults along with other fitness challenges.

So children learn how to identify what physical activity helps their body and mind, teach the Healthy Alternative for Little Ones’ (HALO) curriculum. HALO empowers preschool children to adopt a healthy lifestyle early in life. HALO’s Unit 12 – Healthy Lifestyles: Physical Activity focuses on teaching little ones fitness goals too so they can “Grow Bigger, Stronger and Better Able to Think!.”

Learn how HALO easily fits into other preschool curriculum.

Have fun this summer and get fit!
